Damrota Garden in Katowice

In the centre of Katowice, a modern commercial and residential building by the renowned architectural office ‘Konior Studio’ is under construction. The contractor for the building is Remax. Budosprzęt supplied customised formwork forms for the construction of the spiral staircase. All leading formwork companies were invited to submit a bid in this respect. Among several, Budosprzęt was chosen for its lightweight modular solution and affordable price. The form of the presentation was also important, with a virtual model presented in AR technology during a working meeting in an office on site.

The topic was technically quite complex due to the geometry of the staircase. There were two flights to be constructed between storeys 1-3. When analysing the detailed drawings and the geometry of the model of the designed staircase, it became apparent that there were some discrepancies. The detailed drawings did not coincide with the designer’s vision and a redesign of the staircase became necessary.

Through the actions of the architect, the final model of the staircase was significantly complicated. The main change was in the surface of the palate, which necessitated the design of additional transition forms through the cantilever.

The formwork forms were designed as six cylindrical blocks supported on girders and PEP universal supports. The moulds took about five man-hours to assemble, which may be an advantage in this case.

After inspecting the formwork forms on site, the decision was made to build them in architectural concrete technology, which testifies to the high quality of the forms produced by Budosprzęt.
